The Maldives is a tropical paradise of 1,192 islands and 26 atolls that fascinates visitors with its unique geography. They are home to around 5% of the planet’s reefs, which form bands of color, tiny jewel-like islands fringed by pristine soft sand and surrounded by shallow crystalline water. It’s a dream destination for divers and nature lovers. Only 200 of the islands are inhabited. Several atolls are hotels, while some islands are used for industry and agriculture. The unique cultural traditions, influenced by centuries of diversity, are reflected in the local cuisine based on fish and coconuts, as well as in traditional boat building.
